Beck is a young program who becomes the skillful leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron - the greatest warrior the Grid has ever come to know. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting and light cycle skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but he will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful, strong leader. Destined to become the next Tron of the system, Beck adopts Tron's persona and becomes the archenemy of General Tesler and his oppressive forces.[4]
A special preview of Tron: Uprising premiered on the home releases of Tron: Legacy, on April 5, 2011. However, the same trailer was released on the internet in March 2011.
Shown in the first Tron: Uprising trailer was a slogan for the series, "before the Legacy there was an Uprising."
As a special event, Disney XD showed showed new CGI models of characters, concept art, and the original trailer that was with the home releases of Tron: Legacy at San Diego Comic Con 2011.[6][7]
Tron: Uprising's animation style is 2-D animation, but with CGI as well.[3] The 2-D animation of Tron: Uprising is somewhat similar to the animation used in Speed Racer: The Next Generation.
